Job summary

Suncor is seeking a seasoned stakeholder engagement and Indigenous relations professional to oversee Government of Alberta consultation processes across upstream operations, including mining, in situ, and water management. You will develop partnerships with Indigenous communities, coordinate consultations, and ensure feedback is captured and addressed.

Qualifications

• Seven or more years of relevant work experience including experience with formal consultation processes in Alberta.
• Undergraduate degree in a Social Sciences field or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Cultural agility and experience working with Indigenous communities
• Strong communication skills and the ability to navigate relationships with sensitivity and empathy
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage shifting priorities
• Ability to collect, document, and present information to support formal consultation requirements (such as issue notes, policies, key messages, corporate disclosures, risk assessments) in a thoughtful and clear way

Responsibilities

• Support and lead formal Government of Alberta consultation processes
• Build and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous communities
• Ensure open and respectful communication
• Coordinate meetings, gather feedback, and address community concerns
• Collaborate with internal teams to support consultation and engagement efforts
• Implement engagement strategies that foster mutual understanding and cooperation
