Job summary

Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) invites a Nurse Practitioner to deliver primary care at Tillicum Lelum Health Centre in Nanaimo. You will work with an interdisciplinary team to improve access and outcomes for Indigenous communities, emphasizing culturally safe care.

You will assess, diagnose, manage treatment, and provide health promotion, disease prevention, and education within a holistic care model, collaborating with other professionals to reduce chronic health concerns.

Qualifications

• NP registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives is required.
• Two years of recent, relevant clinical nursing experience is expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive assessment of patients/clients/residents, diagnose diseases and conditions.
• Initiate treatment, manage health care, and prescribe medications per standards and guidelines.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team and refer to physicians as appropriate.
• Deliver high-quality, low-barrier primary care and health education to Indigenous populations.
