Job summary

Manitoba Child Care Association seeks an experienced ECE III or higher-level professional to lead and mentor staff at Kookum’s Place Daycare. The Pedagogical Mentor provides day-to-day leadership, modeling, observation, feedback, and hands-on guidance to ECE IIs and CCAs to support high-quality, relationship-based care.

Qualifications

• Experienced ECE III or higher-level Early Childhood Education professional.
• Provides strong day-to-day leadership, mentorship, and professional guidance to ECE IIs and CCAs.
• Coaching, modelling, observation, feedback, and hands-on support to staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, coaching, and ongoing mentorship to ECE IIs and CCAs.
• Work directly with educators in classrooms to model best practices in early learning and care.
• Guide staff in planning and delivering meaningful, age-appropriate, play-based learning experiences.
• Support educators in understanding individual developmental needs, interests, and learning styles.
• Help staff create engaging, exploration-driven learning environments that foster independence and relationships.
• Observe practices, give constructive feedback, and follow up with practical guidance.
• Mentor new staff to build confidence and consistency in professional skills.
• Support staff with positive behaviour guidance, routines, transitions, and relationship-building.
• Assist staff in linking observations to program planning and learning opportunities.
• Identify training needs and coordinate/deliver relevant professional development.
• Reinforce center policies, licensing requirements, and health and safety practices.
• Encourage reflective practice and ongoing improvement among educators.
• Support respectful relationships with children, families, colleagues, Elders, and community members.
