Job summary

Misiway in Timmins, Ontario is hiring a Social Worker to provide client-centered counselling and family support within a Wholistic Health framework. The role emphasizes land-based healing, cultural practice, and collaboration with a supervising clinician to ensure safe, culturally safe care for Indigenous children, youth, and families.

You will partner with schools and community agencies, maintain confidential records, participate in team planning, and support clients through complex systems

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Social Work (preferred) or a diploma in Social Service Work, Child and Youth Work, or related field.
• At least 2 years of direct experience with Indigenous children and youth in social services/health settings.
• Experience with trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally safe approaches to care.
• Ability to conduct holistic assessments and develop safety plans with clients.
• Good communication, listening, and writing skills.
• Able to manage an active caseload as part of a team.
• Valid Ontario G licence and access to a reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual counselling and emotional support using a wellness wheel approach
• Facilitate healing circles, talking circles, and group sessions for youth and families
• Build care plans together with clients from their strengths and what matters to them
• Work through risk assessments and safety planning with clients alongside supervising clinician
• Lead and take part in land-based cultural activities as part of the program
• Offer follow-up care through videoconferences when in-person visits aren't possible
• Provide case management to clients and their families, including videoconferencing psychiatry and psychology consultations
• Speak up for clients and coordinate services with community agencies and partners
• Fulfill your professional reporting obligations as required by law
• Build relationships within local schools and support students with counselling and follow-up
• Document your work accurately and on time in Misiway's Electronic Health Record
• Show up for case conferences, team meetings, and program planning
• Keep client information confidential, following privacy standards and applicable law
