A leading educational institution in Fort Chipewyan is seeking a qualified contractor to provide School Counselling Services. The role involves delivering in-person counselling to students facing social and emotional challenges, collaborating with school staff, and providing relevant inservices. Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Counselling and have experience in a school setting.
The Parkland School Division (PSD) is accepting applications for a contracted position to support Athabasca Delta Community School in Fort Chipewyan, Alberta, which serves students in Kindergarten to Grade 12. As an Independent Contractor, our schools will use your services/area of expertise to help provide a continuum of support and services for students within the school. School Counselling Services
Sitting at the northwest tip of Lake Athabasca, Fort Chipewyan is one of the most northern communities in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, one that strives for a balance between urban and natural settings in Treaty 8 Territory. There are about 980 residents living in the hamlet, making it the second-largest community in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. Many of the residents of Fort Chipewyan are Mikisew Cree First Nation, Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation, and Fort Chipewyan Métis. Surrounded by nature, Fort Chipewyan is a fly-in community.
Prerequisites:
Masters degree in Counselling or related field (with clinical and practicum component)
Registered or certified member in good standing with a professional governing body
Experience in providing counselling services with extensive clinical experience,preferably within a school environment
Experience in working with children, adolescents, families and social service agencies
Qualified and comfortable providing inservices on relevant topics to staff and students, as needed.
Scope of Work:
Provide in-person counselling services to support students that are experiencing social/emotional difficulties that are impacting the student’s ability to learn, as well as their overall wellness. These services are provided through intervention counselling, individual counseling, targeted counselling, and universal programing. The consultant would work collaboratively with the Division Psychologist, Principal, school staff, family, and the community, to provide the most effective services for the students.
Please note: this contract is focused on the provision of Counselling Services,and does not involve conducting Psychological Educational Assessments
Onsite Service Delivery:
This contract would provide in-person counselling services at Athabasca Delta Community School for four to six days per month. Flight costs from Fort McMurray, as well as lodging expenses, would be reimbursed. Ideally, this contractor would provide onsite services 2 days per week on a biweekly basis in order to provide regular and ongoing support; however, the terms of this contract are negotiable.

Proof of liability insurance of no less than five million dollars

A completed application submission should not be construed as acceptance to PSD’s Independent Contractor list nor an obligation for PSD to extend a contract.
PSD reserves the rights to negotiate with the companies/individuals selected directly relating to rates, services and clarity on submission information, if needed.
This is a Non-Employee position and all services are to be invoiced/billed accordingly if added to the Independent Contractor/Vendor list.
