The Parkland School Division (PSD) is accepting applications for a contracted position to support Athabasca Delta Community School in Fort Chipewyan, Alberta, which serves students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. As an Independent Contractor, your services will help provide a continuum of support and services for students within the school. We invite qualified companies or individuals to submit an application for the following contracted position: School Counselling Services.
Sitting at the northwest tip of Lake Athabasca, Fort Chipewyan is one of the most northern communities in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. It balances urban and natural settings in Treaty 8 Territory, with about 980 residents, including Mikisew Cree First Nation, Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation, and Fort Chipewyan Métis. Surrounded by nature, it is a fly-in community.
Provide in-person counselling services to support students experiencing social/emotional difficulties impacting their learning and overall wellness. Services include intervention counselling, individual counselling, targeted counselling, and universal programming. The contractor will collaborate with the Division Psychologist, Principal, school staff, families, and the community to deliver effective services.
This contract focuses solely on counselling services and does not include conducting Psychological Educational Assessments.
The services will be provided at Athabasca Delta Community School for four to six days per month. Flight costs from Fort McMurray and lodging expenses will be reimbursed. Ideally, onsite services would be provided two days per week on a biweekly basis for ongoing support, but terms are negotiable.
Submission of an application does not guarantee inclusion on PSD’s Independent Contractor list nor a contract offer. PSD reserves the right to negotiate rates and services with selected candidates. All services are invoiced/billed as a Non-Employee position.
