Job summary

Alvéole is seeking local beekeepers to partner as independent contractors in Winnipeg, Manitoba. You will manage honey bee hives at client sites, perform inspections, harvest honey, and deliver reports using digital tools.

This role emphasizes autonomy, travel to client locations, and community education during workshops. Ideal candidates have hands-on beekeeping experience, can work independently with limited supervision, and possess a valid driver’s license with reliable vehicle access.

Qualifications

• Hands-on beekeeping with knowledge of hive health and seasonal management.
• Availability to service hives on a recurring schedule throughout the season.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Comfort using mobile and digital tools to log visits, tasks, and data.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, especially for records.

Responsibilities

• Maintain honey bee hives at client sites on a three-week service cycle, performing tasks to support colony health.
• Install new hives and related equipment at client locations.
• Conduct routine hive inspections and maintenance.
• Harvest honey directly from hives and manage final delivery (target ~30 pounds per hive/season).
• Collect samples and field data to monitor hive health and environmental conditions.
• Complete accurate records and service reports using digital tools (e.g., Zuper).
• Travel regularly by car to client sites, apiary yards, equipment depots, and suppliers.
• Engage with clients during visits and workshops to explain services and biodiversity data collection.
