Job summary

School District 60 (Peace River North) seeks a temporary part-time Kindergarten/Grade 1 teacher for Alwin Holland Elementary in Fort St. John, BC. The position runs Sept 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027. The school serves a diverse student body with strong emphasis on inclusion and SEL.

Valid BC Teaching Certificate (or eligibility) is required, with collaborative planning and commitment to short- and long-term goals within the BC Curriculum. Pro-D days may be required.

Qualifications

  • Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible).
  • Ability to teach identified elementary subjects.
  • Experience with universal design and differentiation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications, collaboration and organization skills.
  • Experience/training/knowledge of Social Emotional Learning.
  • Belief in inclusion and potential of all students.
  • Understanding of BC Curriculum and planning skills.
  • Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff.
  • Proactive classroom management that maintains student dignity.
  • Assessment practices that promote learning and dignity.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Kindergarten/Grade 1 in a temporary 0.1 FTE assignment.
  • Plan short-term and long-term lessons considering class composition.
  • Contribute to a positive, safe, caring classroom community.
  • Collaborate with staff to enhance student learning.
  • Attend Pro-D or non-instructional days when required.
