Job summary

School District 60 in Fort St. John, BC, seeks a temporary full-time French Immersion Primary Teacher for Ecole Central Elementary School (K-6).

The role runs Sep 1, 2026 to Jun 30, 2027 in a Fine Arts French Immersion environment with a dedicated staff and strong literacy focus. The successful candidate will hold a BC Teaching Certificate (or be eligible), demonstrate French proficiency, and participate in a French fluency assessment.

Qualifications

• Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible)
• Proficiency in written and oral French
• Willingness to interview in French with the District’s French Language Coordinator
• Practicum in French/French Immersion at elementary level
• Knowledge of a balanced literacy program with guided reading and assessment
• Ability to plan short- and long-term considering class composition
• Experience with universal design and differentiation for diverse learners
• Strong collaboration, organization, and communication skills
• Experience/knowledge of Social Emotional Learning and building inclusive classrooms
• Integration of computer technology into the learning environment
