Are you a creative and imaginative person with a knack for connecting to community? Are you a natural leader with strong mentorship abilities? Do you have a great sense of humour? Do you love the idea of supporting an adult with a disability to thrive in community and in relationships? If so, I would love to meet you!

I am currently recruiting an Inclusion Support Worker for my adult son to foster relationships in the community. I need your help to ensure that he continually finds ways to expand his world by meeting new people, trying new things, and exploring interests.

The successful candidate will be directly employed by me (through PDD Family Managed Supports). The rate of pay is between $20 and $22 per hour. I am looking for someone who can commit 2 or 3 days a week, and also someone interested in evening community hours (e.g., Tigers games, college basketball games, listening to bands, playing pool, etc.). For the right candidate(s), this would be a highly rewarding opportunity. References and record checks will be required.

Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities include:

• Assistance with and support for increased independence in household care and management
• Assistance with and support for increased independence in personal care and management
• Assistance with establishing and maintaining community connections
• Accompanying and supporting community, recreational, and leisure activities (enjoyment of sporting events is a plus)
• Ongoing evaluation and planning with service providers and support workers
• Support and facilitation in expanding use of augmentative communication devices (training and support provided; experience not necessary)
