Job summary

Safeway Canada is seeking a Bakery Production Assistant to join our bakery team. You will work with experienced staff to bake fresh artisan breads, pastries, cookies and muffins, while providing personal service to customers in a friendly environment.

Responsibilities include preparing baked goods to Safeway standards, restocking displays, cleaning equipment, and offering outstanding customer service. Evening and weekend availability is encouraged to fit store needs.

Qualifications

• Experience is an asset.
• Experience in a bakery or retail environment is beneficial.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

The sweet aromas of our own fresh-baked Artisan breads, pastries, cookies, and muffins make our Bakery a must-stop place for customers. It’s a fun baking opportunity and a creative one, too. Key Responsibilities

• Upholds and complies with company procedures, standards and policies in all situations
• Greets customers in a polite and friendly manner
• Demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with Safeway’s programs
• Fries donuts and performs oven duties (Alberta and British Columbia Only)
• Prepares a variety of bakery products in accordance with Safeway recipes and high standards in order to produce a superior quality product that satisfies customers’ expectations
• Responsible for preparing baked goods in accordance with company standards on merchandise presentation
• Receive and put away product orders
• Cleaning and sanitizing of bakery equipment
• Receiving and rotating of baked product
• Filling Bakery showcases

Physical Requirements (Seldom: Not Daily, Rare: 0-5% of shift, Occasional: 6-33% of shift, Frequent: 34-66% of shift, Constant: 66-100% of shift)

• Frequent lifting of up to 20 pounds
• Frequent hand coordination, bending pushing, pulling and twisting
• Occasional lifting of between 20-50 lbs including waist level and low level lifts
• Constant standing, walking, gripping, reaching
