Job summary

Safeway in Calgary, Alberta is seeking a Bakery Production Assistant to join our bakery team. You will help prepare artisan breads, pastries, cookies and muffins, while delivering personal service to customers and maintaining high quality standards.

You’ll work closely with experienced bakers, learn production processes, and contribute to a clean, safe, and inviting bakery environment. Flexible hours including evenings and weekends are encouraged to support store operations.

Qualifications

• Ability to learn quickly in a hands-on bakery setting.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and meeting production goals.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration with bakery staff.
• Clear and concise communication with customers and teammates.
• Demonstrated customer service skills and a friendly attitude.
• Commitment to safety practices and proper hygiene.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Sunday scheduling may be required for Alberta locations.

• Receive and put away product orders
• Cleaning and sanitizing of bakery equipment
• Receiving and rotating of baked product
• Filling Bakery showcases

Physical Requirements (Seldom: Not Daily, Rare: 0-5% of shift, Occasional: 6-33% of shift, Frequent: 34-66% of shift, Constant: 66-100% of shift)

• Frequent lifting of up to 20 pounds
• Frequent hand coordination, bending pushing, pulling and twisting
• Occasional lifting of between 20-50 lbs including waist level and low level lifts
• Constant standing, walking, gripping, reaching
