Job summary

LG Electronics Canada, Inc. in North York seeks a Legal Counsel to provide timely legal advice on a broad range of issues in support of business operations, reporting to the General Counsel.

Responsibilities include drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements; managing product safety and regulatory matters; shaping compliance programs; advising on privacy and data governance; and supporting cross-functional partners.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of relevant work experience in‑house or at a law firm.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Experience with corporate/commercial matters; privacy experience is an asset.
• Ability to work independently and manage complex matters from start to finish.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships with legal and business partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal advice to business units on the application of laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements.
• Manage product safety and regulatory matters, including regulatory filings.
• Manage legal compliance matters, including developing and deploying compliance programs, policies, training, and guidance documents.
• Monitor and report on internal compliance activities.
• Assist with Canadian privacy law compliance, including PIA support and information requests responses.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments and advise on risks impacting the business.
• Support development and revision of internal policies and procedures.
• Assist General Counsel as needed; perform additional duties as required.
