The Role

As the Import/Export Specialist, you will be a key member of the Global Trade Compliance team, responsible for executing operational tasks to support business activities. You will proactively guide internal departments to ensure compliance with international trade regulations, assist in integrating trade compliance into business practices, develop policies and training, and lead projects to optimize global trade operations and reduce risks. You will oversee record-keeping for import/export documentation, support investigations and due diligence, and serve as a point of contact for compliant shipment processing across teams.

The Person

You are experienced in import/export within the high-tech industry, with a strong understanding of US and Canada regulations. You have worked with trade compliance tools, screening solutions, and ERP systems, and possess excellent project management skills. Your communication skills enable you to build credibility and rapport with technical and non-technical teams.

  • Regulatory Navigator: Proficient in US and Canada trade laws and regulations.
  • Strategic Advisor: Capable of providing strategic guidance to improve compliance and efficiency.
  • Process Innovator: Skilled in developing streamlined trade processes.
  • Diligent Communicator: Maintains clear communication with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Support operational tasks for the Global Trade Compliance team.
  2. Guide internal departments to ensure compliance with US and Canada regulations.
  3. Assist in integrating trade compliance into business practices, including process development and training.
  4. Lead projects to improve trade operations and mitigate risks.
  5. Manage documentation records for import/export activities.
  6. Support investigations and corrective actions related to compliance.
  7. Act as the primary contact for Canadian shipment processing.
  8. Ensure compliance with CBP, CBSA, and other customs authorities.
  9. Maintain compliance with PIP/C-TPAT programs.
  10. Stay updated on tariff codes, HS classifications, and duty/tax changes.
Preferred Experience
  • Strong background in US and Canada import/export regulations, especially in high-tech sectors.
  • Experience with trade compliance tools, screening solutions, and ERP systems.
  • Proven project management and process improvement skills.
Academic Credentials
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Certifications in trade compliance or international trade are a plus.
