Job summary

Lookout Housing and Health Society operates a 24/7 emergency shelter for homeless adults, delivering intake, orientation, and support services. The Shelter Resource Worker reports to the Site Manager and collaborates with public service agencies to meet guest needs.

The position requires respirator fit testing and COR certification compliance; clean-shaven policy for proper seal is required. Shifts include day, afternoon/evening, overnight, seven days a week.

Qualifications

• Crisis Intervention skills (CPI) and Naloxone/Trauma-Informed Practice training is an asset.
• Ability to work independently or in a team setting.
• Excellent communication, writing, documentation, and organizational skills.
• Strong ability to manage stress and organize workload.

Responsibilities

• Provide support, supervision, and assistance to homeless adults who may be facing multiple barriers.
• Accept referrals and connect guests to Lookout’s external resources.
• Refer guests to community services to address needs.
• Interview and provide basic necessities; ensure a safe and supportive environment.
• Complete required records and maintain statistical data.
• Support shelter staff and assist new employees.
