British Columbia Public School Employers' Association | Make a Future - Careers in BC Education is seeking a School Based Counsellor for a 0.600 FTE continuing assignment effective immediately. School counsellors consult and plan with students, families, and professionals to promote mental health and well-being within the school context.

The role focuses on collaboration with the School Based Team, community services, and teachers to provide preventive, developmental, and intervention supports

Qualifications

• Master's degree recognized by the College of Teachers in counselling psychology or related discipline.
• Valid BC Teaching certificate and current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch.
• Membership in a counselling or related professional association is preferred.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (or willingness to train)

Responsibilities

• Counselling students and planning collaboratively with students, families, and professionals to promote mental health.
• Consulting with the School Based Team to develop goals and effective strategies.
• Provide preventive, developmental, remedial, and intervention services for student mental health.
• Coordinate referrals to community services and support interagency collaboration.
• Maintain confidentiality and respond to critical incidents and safety issues.
