Job summary

Instacart is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Identity and Risk Platform team. You will own authentication, account lifecycle, identity verification, and risk signaling, while guiding backend and platform engineers to scale securely.

You will partner with Product, Security, Data Science, and Legal to deliver critical improvements like stronger identity verification, eligibility workflows, and compliance capabilities, all within a flexible remote model for Canada.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with leadership exposure.
• Experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems or real-time decisioning platforms.
• Backend/platform engineering with Go, Java, or Python.
• Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS or GCP) and modern datastores like Postgres, DynamoDB, Redis.
• Experience hiring, performance management, and career development.

Responsibilities

• Own the vision, roadmap, and execution for Identity and Fraud & Risk platforms in partnership with leadership.
• Lead and develop a team of engineers; coach, set goals, and ensure inclusive culture.
• Define service health goals, improve on-call practices, and drive long-term remediation.
• Collaborate with Product, Data Science, Security, Legal, Operations, and external vendors on initiatives.
