What you’ll do

The Identity and Access Management Advisor (IAM Advisor) is responsible for the analysis, implementation, and maintenance of digital identity components, including enrollment, identity proofing, authentication, lifecycle management, federation, and assertions. They will provide technical consultation to projects and IT management, assisting in the development, specification, implementation, and communication of IAM applications, processes, and architecture. The IAM Advisor will protect BC Hydro’s information assets by ensuring appropriate access controls.

IAM Activities include:

  • Providing Subject Matter Expertise (SME) for IAM projects, ensuring alignment with IAM vision and cybersecurity strategies.
  • Monitoring operational responsibilities related to IAM such as SSO, MFA, identity governance, privileged access management, and secrets management.
  • Conducting routine audits of IAM applications for compliance.
  • Participating in continual improvement activities for IAM practices.

Business Strategy:

  • Collaborating with business units to ensure consistent IAM delivery.
  • Aligning IAM processes and contributing to standards development.
  • Facilitating decision-making and fostering understanding of IAM systems among stakeholders.

Service Delivery Oversight:

  • Overseeing IAM services delivered by providers, ensuring contractual and policy compliance.
  • Developing and reporting on IAM KPIs.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, cybersecurity, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in identity management, Privilege Access Management (PAM), Identity Governance and Administration (IGA), and digital identity lifecycle.
  • 7+ years in technology implementation, including 2+ years with IGA systems or directory services, and experience integrating identity management software.
  • Certifications in cloud platforms and CISSP or CIDPRO are preferred.

Technical and Business Experience:

  • Expertise in IAM concepts such as federation, authentication, authorization, and access controls.
  • Experience with authentication technologies like Active Directory, Azure AD, LDAP, and federated identity management.
  • Subject matter expertise in SSO, federation, directory architecture, resource provisioning, and process integration.
  • Knowledge of identity and access governance, including access controls, request and certification processes, and organizational change management.
