Job summary

St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Medical/Surgical ICU.

The role works within inter-professional teams to advocate for wellness and deliver safe, ethical nursing care aligned with Ontario College of Nurses standards and SMH’s mission, vision, values and policies. The RN will optimize patient care by collaborating with the care team, coordinating activities and documenting observations; participates in discharge planning and quality improvement.

Qualifications

• Current General Class (Practising) Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• BLS or ACLS certification is required.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent critical care experience in Medical/Surgical ICU is required.
• George Brown College critical care certification or equivalent certification is required.
• Excellent attendance record is required.
• Experience in caring for patients with CRRT preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other professions/disciplines in a team environment.
• Proven planning, time management, organization and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides holistic, evidence-based, patient-centred nursing care in accordance with standards.
• Collaborates with inter-professional teams and coordinates care activities.
• Documents observations, assessments and care provision.
• Contributes to discharge and transition planning and safety initiatives.
