ICU Registered Nurse – Critical Care & Ventilated Patients

Job summary

North Bay Regional Health Centre's Critical Care Unit seeks experienced registered nurses for a 16-bed unit with low nurse-to-patient ratios. The unit cares for cardiac, medical and surgical patients across age groups, using state-of-the-art monitoring systems.

The team includes anaesthetists, internists, surgeons, RNs and allied health professionals. Candidates must hold current Ontario RN registration and BLS/ACLS certifications, with CCU experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Current Certificate of Registration – College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) certificate within last 12 months.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Current Certificate in IV Therapy and Central Line Management.
• Coronary Care Course (min. 25 hrs.) and/or Lead II/12 Lead Interpretation Course (min. 15 hrs.).
• Minimum 2–3 years Medical/Surgical experience (within last 2–3 years).
• Minimum 1–2 years Critical Care experience (within last 2–3 years).
• Critical Care Certificate or in process of obtaining is an asset.
• Must obtain certification of added nursing skills by end of orientation period (list includes Cardioversion/defibrillation, External pacemaker, Arterial line management, Emergency drugs administration, Ventilators, Central Line management with CVP monitoring).
• Bilingualism (Advanced English/French) is an asset.
