Job summary

Tekgence Inc. seeks an experienced AS400 / IBM i System Administrator to manage IBM i environments across production, DR, QA and development. The role focuses on system monitoring, upgrades, backup and recovery, and batch operations using ROBOT Scheduler.

You will ensure security, capacity planning, and ITIL-aligned incident, change, and problem management while coordinating with cross-functional teams to maintain stable, compliant IBM i systems.

Qualifications

• Experience in IBM i / AS400 system administration.
• Hands-on ROBOT Scheduler experience for batch jobs.
• Experience with BRMS backup and DR operations.
• Ability to perform OS upgrades, PTF patching, and security patches.
• Familiarity with ITIL incident, change, and problem management.

Responsibilities

• Administer IBM i environments across Production, DR, QA, and Development.
• Monitor performance, plan capacity, and troubleshoot issues.
• Manage security, user profiles, and access permissions.
• Plan OS upgrades, PTFs, patches, and firmware maintenance.
• Handle backups, restores, and DR drills with BRMS.
• Configure and maintain ROBOT Scheduler for batch jobs.
• Monitor and troubleshoot production batch jobs and month/year-end processing.
• Maintain system jobs, queues, and spool files.
• Document IT processes and coordinate with teams.
