Job summary

Kent is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Superintendent to lead commissioning activities on the Woodfibre LNG Project in Squamish, BC, Canada. The role focuses on managing I&C commissioning of instrumentation, control valves, analyzers, DCS, SIS/ESD, and safety systems, ensuring safe start-up and turnover.

Ideal candidates bring 12+ years of I&C experience, a related engineering degree or equivalent, and strong leadership with a focus on safety and collaboration across disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Instrumentation/Controls Engineering degree, technical diploma, trade certification, or equivalent experience.
  • Typically 12+ years of I&C experience, including significant commissioning leadership.
  • LNG, oil and gas, gas processing, petrochemical, or major process plant experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of DCS, SIS/ESD, F&G, PLCs, field instrumentation, analyzers, and control valves.
  • Experience with loop checking, cause-and-effect testing, functional testing, and integrated start-up.
  • Knowledge of functional safety principles and applicable standards preferred.
  • Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead instrumentation, control, automation, and safety-system commissioning activities.
  • Manage I&C Supervisors, technicians, contractors, and vendor representatives.
  • Coordinate commissioning of field instrumentation, control valves, analyzers, DCS, SIS/ESD, F&G, PLC, and associated systems.
  • Oversee loop checking, calibration, functional testing, cause-and-effect testing, logic verification, and integrated system testing.
  • Coordinate I&C system turnover and commissioning priorities.
  • Ensure control and safeguarding systems are ready to support equipment and process start-up.
  • Coordinate I&C interfaces with Electrical, Mechanical, Process, Telecom, Package Vendors, and Operations.
  • Manage system testing constraints and technical issues.
  • Ensure configuration changes and field modifications are properly controlled and documented.
  • Review commissioning procedures, test records, loop folders, and turnover documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with functional safety and project requirements.
  • Provide strong HSSEQ leadership throughout commissioning execution.
