Job summary

Kent is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to support commissioning activities on the Woodfibre LNG Project in Squamish, British Columbia. The role provides technical and field support for system completion, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up and turnover, working closely with construction, completions, operations, vendors and discipline teams to safely deliver systems into operation.

  • Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
  • 5+ years in engineering, construction, commissioning, or operations.
  • Experience on LNG, oil and gas, petrochemical, process plant, or major industrial projects preferred.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of Canadian codes, standards, and site safety requirements is an asset.
  • Experience with commissioning processes, systemization, completions, turnover, and start-up.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute commissioning plans, procedures, check sheets, and system turnover documentation.
  • Coordinate pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for assigned systems and packages.
  • Review engineering drawings, P&IDs, specifications, vendor documentation, cause-and-effect diagrams, and operating philosophies.
  • Verify system readiness and identify outstanding construction, testing, documentation, and punch-list items.
  • Participate in system walkdowns, mechanical completion verification, punch listing, and turnover activities.
  • Support commissioning testing, functional testing, equipment start-up, performance testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate with Construction, Operations, Engineering, HSSEQ, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Monitor commissioning progress and provide accurate status reporting.
  • Ensure commissioning records and test documentation are completed and entered into the project completions management system.
  • Assist with technical resolution of commissioning issues and field changes.
  • Support safe isolation, energization, LOTO, permit-to-work, and SIMOPS requirements.
  • Participate in daily commissioning coordination and planning meetings.

About the job

Kent is looking for a Commissioning Engineer to support commissioning activities on the Woodfibre LNG Project in Squamish, British Columbia. In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience
Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification
  • Engineering degree or equivalent relevant technical qualification.
  • Typically 5+ years of relevant engineering, construction, commissioning, or operations experience.
  • Experience on LNG, oil and gas, petrochemical, process plant, or major industrial projects preferred.
  • Working knowledge of commissioning processes, systemization, completions, turnover, and start-up.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with electronic completions management systems is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Canadian codes, standards, and site safety requirements is an asset.
Communication
  • Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.
