Job summary

Bird is seeking an Electrical Superintendent to lead field execution on hydroelectric unit overhaul projects. You will ensure safe, efficient, high-quality electrical installation, testing and commissioning, coordinating trades, subcontractors, materials, and interfaces with other disciplines.

The role is site-based, requiring strong leadership, planning, and a proactive safety mindset, with travel to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Electrician certification or equivalent electrical trade qualification.
• 10+ years of progressive electrical construction experience with leadership.
• Experience in hydroelectric, power generation, utilities, heavy industrial, or major infrastructure helpful.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, testing, commissioning, and codes.
• Ability to plan and schedule field work, lead teams, manage productivity.
• Ability to read contracts, drawings, specs and schedules.
• Strong safety leadership and communication skills.
• Proficient with MS Office and field reporting tools; able to travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day field execution of electrical work safely and to specs.
• Plan and coordinate labour, subcontractors, materials, tools and equipment.
• Develop short-term look-ahead plans and coordinate with teams.
• Provide leadership to supervisors, forepersons, tradespeople and subcontractors.
• Interpret electrical drawings and resolve field issues with the team.
• Implement safety program, lead toolbox talks and hazard assessments.
• Monitor workmanship, support inspections and testing, address deficiencies.
• Coordinate shutdowns, energization, testing and commissioning with client and stakeholders.
• Track progress, labour and quantities; report risks and changes.
• Support material planning, procurement, subcontractor coordination, change management.
