Job summary

FortisBC in Surrey, British Columbia, invites applications for a System capacity planning supervisor. The role uses hydraulic simulations to address operational emergencies, reviews simulation results, and supports departmental activities.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering (or related diploma), 8–12 years of experience in hydraulic modeling of gas distribution, and strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Candidates must attain a dedicated bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related diploma or certificate from a recognized technical institution.
• Candidates must attain 8 to 12 years of recent, related experience, including experience in hydraulic modeling of gas distribution.
• Candidates must attain excellent collaboration skills with an effortless ability to communicate.
• Candidates must attain exceptional organization skills to plan, coordinate, and execute a large number and wide variety of annual and ad hoc tasks and initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Candidates are appointed to learn group-specific systems, software, processes, and personnel, and establish a development plan for future training needs.
• They also appointed to gain introductory knowledge of ongoing facility applications and the regulatory framework, including FortisBC’s service areas, customer base, and service offerings.
• Candidates are also appointed to independently direct and support annual departmental processes and activities.
• They’re also appointed to increase familiarity with the transmission systems, constraints, processes, and initiatives.
