Job summary

Hydro One Inc. is seeking a senior data architect to own the end-to-end Snowflake environment design, ensuring secure, scalable, and cost-efficient enterprise data services. You will define target architectures, patterns, and governance in partnership with security and governance teams.

Lead design reviews, provide escalation support to engineering, and drive platform adoption of new Snowflake features. Hybrid work model with two office days per week is required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in data architecture/engineering.
• 2+ years hands-on Snowflake.
• Deep cloud experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Expert SQL and dimensional/data-vault modelling.
• Strong grasp of security, governance, and cost-management frameworks.
• Experience leading enterprise data platform migrations.
• SnowPro Advanced: Architect certification strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design of Hydro One's Snowflake environment and ensure it scales securely and cost-effectively.
• Define target-state data architecture, including account/warehouse topology, database and schema layout.
• Establish reusable design patterns, naming standards, and frameworks for ingestion, transformation, data modelling, and secure data sharing.
• Set guardrails for security, RBAC, masking, row-access policies, and data governance with security teams.
• Design for cost efficiency—warehouse sizing, auto-suspend/resume, resource monitors, workload isolation.
• Provide technical oversight, lead design reviews, and act as second-level support for engineering teams.
• Own the platform roadmap: evaluate new Snowflake features and adoption timing.
