Job summary

IFG - International Financial Group in Vancouver is looking for a Sr Accountant for a full-time permanent role with benefits and a hybrid work model.

You will lead the month-end close, prepare journal entries and reconciliations, oversee payroll accounting, and perform revenue recognition and COGS analysis.

The role requires strong analytical skills, experience with ERP systems, and a collaborative approach across Project Accounting, Payroll, AP, and PMs.

Qualifications

• CPA designation or pursuing CPA preferred.
• Strong experience with month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Knowledge of payroll accounting, revenue recognition, accrual accounting, and cost accounting principles.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to investigate complex accounting issues.
• Strong communication and collaboration across multiple departments.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems and continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead the month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
• Manage payroll accounting activities, reconcile payroll-related accounts, analyze accruals and variances, and support Dayforce improvements.
• Analyze COGS by comparing standard vs actual costs, investigate variances, and provide insights into key drivers.
• Perform revenue recognition and unbilled revenue reconciliations per policies.
• Partner with Project Accounting, Payroll, AP, and PMs to support reconciliations, revenue recognition, billing, and month-end activities.
• Ensure revenue and expenses are recorded in correct periods by monitoring project activity and maintaining accurate records.
• Contribute to continuous process improvement by identifying automation opportunities and improving reporting capabilities.
