Job summary

CBC/Radio-Canada in Toronto is seeking an Analyst – Associate Business Manager to join the CBC Sports team. The role provides financial reporting and analysis, month-end close support, budgets and forecasts, travel planning, scheduling, contracting and paying employees.

Reporting to the Senior Unit Production Manager, the contract runs for 12 months and requires a degree, accounting designation progress, and experience with financial systems and Oracle/LIVELINK, plus strong MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• A university or college degree/diploma is required.
• Professional accounting designation (CPA, CMA or CPA, CGA) or currently pursuing.
• Two years of related experience.
• Ability to use Financial systems (general ledger, resource planning).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word).
• Experience with Oracle and LIVELINK would be considered an asset.
• Ability to adapt to constantly changing working environment and handle multiple priorities.
• Ability to work independently and the ability to work flexible hours, as required.
• Availability to work some evenings and weekends.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to deal with a wide variety of people with tact and diplomacy.
• Bilingualism is an asset

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze production costs against budgets and commitments with the Senior Production Manager.
• Assist in authorizing production costs, prepare monthly accruals and expense reconciliations.
• Prepare and analyze expense reports and ensure compliance while identifying efficiencies.
• Develop monthly forecasts and year-end projections based on current spending.
• Advise program producers on budget spending and cost efficiency opportunities.
• Support crew travel claims and ensure policy compliance.
• Assist in cost efficiency initiatives with Production and Business Manager.
• Create contracts and prepare payments to freelancers.
• Prepare documentation to hire per-occasion employees.
• Advise staff on CBC policies related to Finance, HR and collective agreements.
• Propose and implement improved business processes.
• Coordinate travel, transportation, catering and related production activities.
