Job summary

The Municipality of Port Hope is seeking a skilled Network and Systems Administrator to ensure the efficient operation, security, and maintenance of municipal IT systems and infrastructure. You will configure, troubleshoot, and optimize hardware, software, and network resources while monitoring performance and enforcing security protocols.

The role supports growth and ensures robust data integrity across platforms.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Information Technology.
• Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Cisco CCNA, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or similar certifications are preferred.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in network or systems administration, preferably in public sector.
• Experience with IT project management including upgrades, migrations and integrations.
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft 365 admin portals.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve IT systems and network issues across platforms.

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, and maintain servers, workstations, and IT systems for performance and security.
• Support Microsoft SQL Server and other municipal databases for data availability and integrity.
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot to minimize downtime.
• Lead implementation and management of network security measures (firewalls, VPNs, encryption).
• Plan, install, configure, and update operating systems and applications for municipal use.
• Ensure regular backups and test data integrity.
• Enforce security policies and review vulnerabilities; apply remedial actions.
