Job summary

Thales Canada seeks a Technical Specialist, Electrical in Halifax to support naval vessels under AJISS. You will liaise with OEMs and ship staff, develop work instructions, and address defects on board ships while ensuring proper maintenance of electrical systems.

The role requires a 3-year electrical diploma, Red Seal or Military QL5, and at least 5 years of marine/offshore experience. Hybrid work in Halifax with dockyard time is expected.

Qualifications

• 3-year diploma in electrical field from a recognized technical institute.
• Industrial Electrician Red Seal or Military QL5 certification in an electrical trade.
• Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated technical professional work experience in the marine/offshore sector within the last 10 years.
• Strong knowledge of maintenance, operation, design and troubleshooting of marine electrical systems; strong communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations on board ships or using the Technical Document Package (TDP).
• Liaise with OEMs, service providers and ship staff to support defect resolution.
• Develop Work Instructions and Statements of Work (SOWs) to address defects.
• Identify inadequacies in the TDP and propose improvements.
• Support Service Delivery with management of service providers on board ships.
• Provide technical advice to ensure correct operation and maintenance of marine electrical systems.
• Foster strong relationships within Thales and the customer for rapid issue resolution.
• Assist LCMM and Supportability teams with alternate parts and obsolescence assessments.
• Support Engineering with Engineering Changes, Deviations, Waivers, or onboard surveys.
