Job summary

Hootsuite’s Security team is looking for a Junior Cyber Incident Response Analyst to help secure our product, services, and IT infrastructure. You’ll support day-to-day security operations, analyses incidents, and assist in implementing technologies and processes to prevent attacks.

You’ll work with SIEM, EDR, and other tools across cloud environments, participate in on-call rotation, and report to the Director, Information Security. Accommodations provided upon request.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering, plus information security certifications or willingness to obtain one.
• 1–2 years of experience in a security analyst, SOC analyst, incident response analyst, security engineer, or similar role.
• Knowledge of common network protocols and layer 7 technologies (SMTP, HTTP(S), DNS, SSL/TLS, FTP, SSH).
• Cloud experience (AWS) with CI/CD; strong Unix/Linux familiarity.
• Familiarity with Ansible and Terraform is a plus; some scripting (Bash, Python, YAML, PowerShell).
• Understanding of OSI model, networking, and security vulnerabilities (OWASP Top 10).
• Experience with security products (SIEM, EDR, IDS, Antivirus, Firewall, DLP).
• Strong collaboration, communication, problem solving, and customer focus.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day security operations monitoring and response for corporate and customer systems.
• Perform incident analysis and triage with understanding of network fundamentals and de-obfuscation techniques.
• Escalate and respond to alerts from MSSP and security tools (SIEM, IDS, EDR, WAF, DLP).
• Assist in containing threats within security incident response teams.
• Execute operational runbooks to support incident response activities.
• Participate in on-call rotation for security incidents.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
