Job summary

Rocky View Schools is seeking a Communications Officer to deliver a range of internal and external communications, messaging, media monitoring, newsletters, events, and website support. The role reports to the Education Centre in Airdrie and requires collaboration across divisions to support RVS goals and a safe, inclusive environment for students and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism or related field.
• Minimum of three years’ communications experience.
• Experience in a school division is an asset.
• Equivalent education/experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and evaluate internal and external communication programs.
• Research, write and edit a broad range of communications materials.
• Contribute to updates of internal and corporate websites for quality information.
• Advise on communications objectives and strategies with stakeholders.
• Assist with team member training on communications platforms and technologies.
• Build strong relationships with RVS staff and external partners.
• Support executives and Board communications with the Director’s guidance.
• Participate in crisis response as required.
• Attend meetings, take minutes, and develop related messaging.
• Prepare media contact lists and conduct media monitoring.
• Support community engagement plans and data analysis.
• Demonstrate professionalism and use of modern technologies.
