Job description

Bolongo Bay Beach Resort is located on the serene island of St. Thomas in the United States Virgin Islands. It is a family-owned and managed beach resort nestled in a beautiful sandy bay along the Caribbean Sea. Known for our all-inclusive packages, friendly hospitality, exciting experiences, and guest amenities, Bolongo Bay offers a unique Virgin Islands experience. Our lively, personable atmosphere provides a guest and employee experience that distinguishes us from larger resorts. Currently, we are the only all-inclusive resort in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Position Summary:

The HVAC Technician will install, repair, and maintain the Resort's heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Certification is required or must be obtained. The technician will perform general facility maintenance with minimal supervision, ensuring quality and efficiency. Responsibilities include handling service requests and repairs as directed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Assess, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC units to ensure proper functioning.
  2. Install ductwork and thermostats for HVAC control.
  3. Comply with safety standards.
  4. Complete work orders and manage inventory requirements.
  5. Perform repairs and replacements of fixtures, doors, windows, walls, flooring, ceilings, roofs, furniture, and cabinetry.
Secondary Position Tasks:
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Position Requirements and Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent certificate required.

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of customer service or hotel experience desired.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Competence in plumbing, electrical, and HVAC repairs with minimal assistance.
  • Ability to work under pressure and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
  • Adherence to safety and maintenance procedures.
  • Knowledge of appliances and equipment.
  • General knowledge of in-room maintenance.
  • Good judgment and communication skills with guests and staff.
  • Excellent mechanical skills and tool use.
Work Schedule:
  • Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts.
  • Extended shifts as needed.
Equipment Used:
  • Use of thermometers, pressure gauges, and testing devices for HVAC evaluation.
Physical Activity and Working Conditions:

Employees must meet physical requirements, including climbing, balancing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, and hearing. The position involves medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally. Visual acuity is required for operating vehicles and equipment. The work environment includes indoor and outdoor conditions, with accommodations provided as needed under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
