Job summary

The City of Hamilton is seeking a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician to maintain and repair building systems across corporate sites. You will diagnose issues with boilers, heat pumps, cooling towers, AHUs, and related equipment, perform preventive maintenance and coordinate with other departments.

Applicants must hold the Ontario 313A qualification and a valid G1/G2 gas fitter license where applicable; strong safety discipline and ability to work with building automation systems are

Qualifications

• Must hold Ontario Certificate of Qualification for Refrigeration & AC (313A).
• Gas Fitter G1/G2 considered.
• ODP certification for refrigerants preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on mechanical HVAC equipment and building systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair boilers, heat pumps, cooling towers, AHUs and related components.
• Read electrical and pneumatic drawings and modify equipment for better control and efficiency.
• Liaise with IT, Fire Department and Community Services to resolve system issues.
• Oversee contractor work and ensure compliance with safety standards.
