Job summary

PHS Canada is seeking a Design Specialist to join our Design team, enhancing our HVAC control systems for mission-critical environments such as data centers and biotechnology facilities. You will design sequences of operation, oversee instrumentation and coordination with engineering teams, and ensure documentation and integration meet project targets.

The role requires a technical degree, 3–5 years in HVAC controls, and strong CAD skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering.
• 3–5 years of experience in HVAC controls, instrumentation, or industrial automation systems.
• Knowledge of Ethernet, Modbus and BACnet communications protocols.
• Proficiency with CAD-based design tools (AutoCAD or equivalent) and Microsoft Windows.
• Fluent written and verbal communication in French; English is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop sequences of operation for HVAC control systems in industrial and mission-critical applications.
• Manage all engineering and instrumentation aspects of HVAC and related mechanical systems.
• Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including submittals, testing procedures, network schematics, and P&ID layouts.
• Select instrumentation and control components based on specifications and requirements.
• Coordinate design deliverables with internal teams, project managers, and external stakeholders.
• Serve as a technical advisor to clients and contractors on control design and integration issues.
• Ensure designs align with budget, schedule, and performance targets.
• Gather and organize data for seamless integration of control equipment into system architecture.
