Job summary

Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre (SLMHC) is seeking a Building Systems Technician to support and enhance maintenance services for safe, patient-centered care. The role involves preventative maintenance on HVAC, boilers, pumps and building systems, with responsibilities across electrical, plumbing, and mechanical tasks.

The technician will monitor the Building Management System, respond to alarms, perform routine adjustments, and ensure compliance with safety and infection control

Qualifications

• Related Technician certification, technical training, or equivalent education and experience.
• BOMI SMT certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Experience in general maintenance, building operations, facilities maintenance, plant operations, or related field.
• Basic knowledge of building systems including HVAC, pumps, motors, boilers, plumbing, water treatment, building automation and electrical systems.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, adjustments, and repairs on building equipment and systems.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and building system issues and take corrective action.
• Maintain and monitor HVAC, pumps, motors, boilers, steam, water and other equipment.
• Monitor Building Management System (BMS), respond to alarms, adjust points/setpoints/schedules within training scope.
• Perform minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general maintenance repairs.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and maintenance practices.
• Follow hospital policies, safety procedures, and infection prevention measures.
• Collaborate with Facilities staff, contractors, and hospital departments.
• Perform other related maintenance and facilities duties as required.
