Job summary

Barton Malow Canada is seeking a Substations Superintendent to lead on-site substation construction across projects in Canada. You will plan, manage, and execute high-voltage electrical work, coordinating with Project Managers, engineering, and subcontractors to meet safety, quality, schedule, and budget targets.

The role requires extensive HV/substation experience, strong leadership, and the ability to work at remote project sites.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of electrical construction experience with 5 years of high-voltage and substation experience.
• 5 years experience in a supervisory or superintendent role.
• Experience in energy, renewables, industrial, or utility electrical construction.
• Strong understanding of electrical codes, drawings, standards, and installation practices.
• Willing and able to work on remote project sites for the duration of construction.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to grow Barton Malow Canada’s substation capabilities.
• Lead daily construction execution and ensure safety, quality, schedule, and budget targets.
• Support development of Installation Work Packages & Inspection Test Plans.
• Participate in development of construction contracts and scopes of work.
• Direct and oversee subcontractor scope, sequencing, coordination, scheduling, installation, and logistics for projects.
• Provide technical guidance to electrical forepersons, journeypersons, and subcontractors.
• Manage substation subcontractors’ performance and ensure timely execution.
• Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of MV/HV equipment, substations, switchgear, and related infrastructure.
