Position : Human Resources Professional (Part-Time, Contract Role)

We are currently hiring for an Independent HR Contractor to take on new client needs and to be part of our remote HR Consulting Web Page. They will provide HR guidance and support to current clients and employers through our online communication channel. This role is a part-time, contract role providing support on an as-needed basis, approximately 10 hours per week.

The Ideal Candidate

  • HR educational background preferred.
  • HR certification or designation preferred.
  • 5+ years experience, preferably in a support or advisory role.
  • Looking for part-time work or to pick up ‘hours’ as needed.
  • Experience managing HR for small and medium-sized companies.
  • Knowledgeable in all Ontario and Canadian-based employee legislation.
  • Successful work history in full-cycle human resources including recruiting, onboarding, training, policy development, benefits, payroll and terminations / layoffs.
  • Experience working with HRIS systems.
  • Confident handling phone calls.
  • Demonstrates a high level of business maturity and decision-making skills.
  • Personable, able to deal with a variety of people comfortably and pleasantly.
  • Easily cultivates relationships with others.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Works proactively with minimal supervision.
  • Confidently handles client requests and provides quality solutions.
  • Openly shares new ideas and information with team members.

Responsibilities

  • Take on new Spearmint Client work including full-cycle human resources support.
  • Build HR foundations for clients without any in-house HR to-date.
  • Answer HR inquiries from our client employers and outside community.
  • Handle inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring compliance with HR practices.
  • Provide clear and accurate information on HR policies, benefits, performance management, employee relations, conflict resolution, terminations, legislation and HR procedures to employers through phone, email or other communication channels.
  • Stay informed about relevant HR laws and regulations and ensuring compliance within your designated area.
  • Assist with HR projects, programs, and initiatives as needed.
  • Handle client requests through responsiveness, follow-ups, and escalations.
  • Able to handle sensitive employee or organizational information with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Oversee recruiting process for current Spearmint clients including job descriptions, postings, resume reviews, phone screen interviews and reference checks.
  • Maintain detailed records of inquiries, issues and resolutions.
  • Maintain detailed records of hours of work using online time clocker.
  • Provide employee support and handle various employee questions and requests.
  • Full set-up of a range of HRIS systems for new clients.
  • Work closely with HRIS systems and provide support to clients, as needed.
  • Work in collaboration with client employers, HR managers, senior executives, and other HR professionals in order to best support client needs and ensure seamless HR operations.
  • In-office visits to Spearmint clients, as needed.
