Job summary

Black Rock Oceanfront Resort in Ucluelet, BC, is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to lead full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations in a hospitality-focused environment. You will maintain HR records, support benefits, and help implement workplace policies and training.

The role also coordinates staff accommodation, immigration-related programs, and safety initiatives, while contributing to engagement and retention across the resort team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years of progressive HR experience.
  • Experience in employee relations, investigations, and performance management.
  • Knowledge of BC Employment Standards, Human Rights, and WorkSafeBC.

Responsibilities

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and orientation for new team members.
  • Serve as HR resource for managers on employee relations and performance management.
  • Maintain HR records, documentation, and benefits administration.
  • Support HR policies and workplace training, including respectful workplace and harassment prevention.
  • Coordinate staff accommodation with Accommodation Manager(s) and handle tenancy docs.
  • Coordinate seasonal/temporary foreign worker programs with immigration consultants.
  • Support Occupational Health & Safety program and JHSC.
  • Champion employee engagement, recognition, and retention initiatives.
  • Participate in leadership meetings on workforce planning.

Position Responsibilities

As the Human Resources Generalist, you will:

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and orientation to help us welcome and set up new team members for success.
  • Serve as the go-to HR resource for managers, supporting employee relations, progressive discipline, and performance management.
  • Maintain accurate HR records, documentation, and reporting, and administer employee benefits programs.
  • Support the development and rollout of HR policies and workplace training, including respectful workplace and harassment prevention.
  • Support our staff accommodation program in partnership with our Accommodation Manager(s), including tenancy documentation and day-to-day employee support.
  • Coordinate documentation and support for our seasonal and temporary foreign worker programs, liaising with immigration consultants as needed.
  • Coordinate our Occupational Health & Safety program and support the Joint Health & Safety Committee.
  • Champion employee engagement, recognition, and retention initiatives that build a great place to work.
  • Participate in leadership meetings as our HR resource, contributing to workforce planning and organizational effectiveness.
Qualifications & Experience
HR Knowledge & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three to five years of progressive Human Resources experience.
  • Experience supporting employee relations, investigations, and performance management.
  • Strong knowledge of BC Employment Standards, Human Rights legislation, WorkSafeBC requirements, and HR best practices.
  • Experience working with confidential employee information.
  • Hospitality, tourism, or service industry experience is considered a strong asset.

  • Sound judgment and a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.

  • CPHR designation (or working towards designation).
