JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic, and results-driven professional to join our team as a Human Resources Consultant.

Reporting to the Senior Manager HR Business Partners, this position is responsible for providing advice and guidance to management and employees on HR matters, including collective agreements, labour relations, recruitment, compensation, benefits, and performance management. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Guide management on sick leave administration, including medical leave, LTD referrals, vocational rehab, and Worker's Compensation.
• Advise on organizational structure, job evaluation, compensation, benefits, and payroll policies and procedures.
• Utilize HR databases to analyze trends, prepare reports, and conduct studies on HR issues.
• Contribute to HR strategy improvements and support HR Service Delivery.
• Develop and provide management with advice on staff planning, promotions, and performance issues.
• Stay updated on training programs and initiatives.
• Design and deliver training courses.
• Create work plans for programs and processes in specialized HR areas.

QUALIFICATIONS

• University Degree or Post-Secondary Education in Human Resources.
• CHRL designation or Master's in Human Resources is an asset.
• Experience as an HR Consultant, Advisor, or Generalist with knowledge of HR principles and processes.
• Labour/employee relations experience in a unionized setting is an asset.
• Results-oriented with the ability to adapt in a dynamic environment.
• Effective communication skills, including strong facilitation, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
• Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
• Willingness to travel within Durham Region as needed.
