Job description

Put your HR expertise to work in a role where your recommendations will have a tangible impact on management decisions, the employee experience, and team performance. You will join a growing North American company operating in a creative and dynamic industry, as well as a team where ideas, collaboration, and continuous improvement are valued.

As a Bilingual Human Resources Business Partner, you will primarily support managers and employees located in Western Canada. Based at our Saint-Laurent head office, you will build trusted relationships both remotely and in person, develop a strong understanding of business challenges, and recommend practical, consistent HR solutions adapted to the operational environment.

Your Mandate

You will act as an HR generalist and strategic advisor to business leaders. You will assess situations requiring HR involvement, evaluate risks, recommend appropriate courses of action, and support managers through execution. You will also contribute to the development and implementation of HR projects, processes, and practices aligned with Richelieu’s culture and business priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise and support managers on employee relations matters, including performance management, attendance, administrative and disciplinary measures, workplace conflicts, complaints, investigations, and terminations.
  • Develop a strong understanding of operations, teams, and business priorities in order to provide proactive HR support rather than primarily reactive assistance.
  • Provide clear and practical recommendations that are consistent with internal practices, applicable policies, and relevant employment legislation.
  • Build credibility and strong partnerships with leaders across Western Canada through regular touchpoints, periodic site visits, and disciplined follow-up on commitments.
  • Support managers with talent planning, retention, succession planning, employee development, engagement, and organizational change.
  • Contribute to reviews of organizational structures, roles, compensation, benefits, and working conditions in collaboration with the appropriate centres of expertise.
  • Analyze data and prepare reports using the HRIS, including ADP Workforce Now, to support decision-making and improve process and data quality.
  • Participate in cross-functional and cross-departmental HR projects and support their implementation with managers and employees.
  • Identify trends, recurring issues, and emerging risks; recommend sustainable solutions and measure the results of HR interventions.
  • Manage multiple priorities from different leaders, communicate expectations clearly, and maintain complete, confidential, and well-organized documentation.
What Your Day-to-Day Could Look Like
  • An Operations Director wants to move quickly on a performance issue. You clarify the facts, assess the risks, establish a fair approach, and guide the manager through the next steps.
  • A manager tells you that a key employee may be considering leaving. You assess retention factors, internal equity, and succession needs before recommending a sustainable solution.
  • Two leaders are experiencing a conflict that is affecting their teams. You facilitate the discussion, refocus the conversation on business impact, and secure clear commitments.
  • You notice that one division is involving HR too late in the process. You establish a partnership plan, create regular touchpoints, and deepen your understanding of the operation.
  • A project requires you to extract and analyze reports from ADP Workforce Now to support improvements to the HRIS or an HR process.
Candidate Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
  • Approximately three to five years of relevant experience as an HR Generalist or Human Resources Business Partner, ideally within a multisite and operational environment.
  • Strong experience in employee relations, performance management, and coaching managers through sensitive situations.
  • Good understanding of key HR functions, including talent management, compensation, benefits, organizational development, and HR policies.
  • Ability to understand strategic and operational business issues, assess risks, and translate analysis into practical recommendations.
  • Professional fluency in both French and English, spoken and written, including the ability to advise stakeholders and draft documentation in both languages.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and experience working with an HRIS; knowledge of ADP Workforce Now is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of employment legislation and practices applicable in Quebec and the Western Canadian provinces, or demonstrated ability to research and apply them with sound judgment.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada and able to work from the head office at least four days per week.
  • Availability to occasionally adjust working hours to accommodate Western Canadian time zones and to travel periodically for business between Manitoba and British Columbia.
  • CHRP or CPHR designation is considered an asset.
The Profile That Will Succeed in This Role
  • Credibility, strong listening skills, and the ability to build relationships with operational leaders, including remotely.
  • Sound judgment, professional courage, and tact when expressing disagreement, managing risk, and proposing alternative solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills, business acumen, and the ability to connect HR solutions to business outcomes.
  • Organization, autonomy, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize several urgent matters simultaneously.
  • Collaborative approach, strong client orientation, and an interest in continuous improvement.
  • Discretion and absolute respect for confidentiality.
Success Indicators
  • Managers involve the HR Business Partner early in their decision‑making process and implement recommendations with confidence.
  • Sensitive employee relations matters are handled consistently, thoroughly, promptly, and proportionately to risk.
  • Talent and performance priorities are translated into concrete action plans.
  • Western Canadian stakeholders benefit from regular, accessible, and proactive HR support despite the distance.
  • Projects and process improvements are implemented with sustainable adoption.
