The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre located in Montreal, Quebec. Position Summary

The Institute, recognized globally for its contributions to biomedical sciences and healthcare, is seeking a Human Resources Advisor to join its dynamic team. The role involves providing strategic and operational HR guidance to researchers and managers within the Institute, supporting laboratory or division operations, and collaborating on HR programs and processes.

General Duties

1. Advisory and Support Functions: Provide advice, coaching, and guidance on HR matters such as employee relations, performance management, talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, absence and disability management, change management, employee retention, and legal compliance.
2. Issue Resolution: Coach and advise managers and employees to resolve HR issues effectively and efficiently.
3. Performance and Culture: Partner with stakeholders to foster a high-performance culture and implement strategies for underperforming employees.
4. Work Permits and Inquiries: Assist with work and study permit applications and related questions for researchers, employees, and trainees.
5. Employee Leave Management: Manage various employee leaves, advise on return-to-work strategies, and handle related inquiries.
6. HR Projects and Initiatives: Participate in the development and implementation of HR projects, including automation initiatives.
7. HR Practices Implementation: Collaborate to introduce innovative HR practices aligned with laboratory/division goals.
8. Training and Development: Develop and deliver HR training sessions and presentations for the Institute community.
9. Compensation Recommendations: Make salary and positioning recommendations for new hires and adjustments.
10. Procedures and Documentation: Update and create HR procedures, manuals, and relevant documentation in collaboration with HR specialists.
11. Industry Trends: Stay informed about HR trends and best practices to enhance strategies and support program development.
