Qualifications

- CHRP designation or actively working towards it is required.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and market HR trends.

As a key member of the Human Resourcesteam, you will be reporting to the Senior Manager, Human Resources. In this role, you will be responsible for providing a full range of consultative services to legal professionals and legal assistants, including recruitment and selection, performance management, relationship management, compensation, training and development.Key Responsibilities:- Oversees the Legal Assistants client group and advises on a broad spectrum of issues, such as recruitment, onboarding, training and development, employee relations, resource and succession planning, and performance management
- Manages Legal Assistant daily attendance and arranges support for Legal professionals
- Builds relationships with Leaders, Coordinators, Legal Assistants and business services teams.
- Reviews and develops Legal Assistant teams and structure to anticipate the current and future needs of the lawyers
- Works closely with legal professionals, ensuring they have the administrative support they need to service the firm and our clients
- Works with the HR team to produce documentation such as letters and review monthly ad hoc reports
- Works with the HR team to coordinate training for new and returning firm members; monitors onboarding program, reviews progress and participates in onboarding as needed
- Conducts departure meetings, which includes reviewing departure memos and conducting exit interviews
- Coordinates and leads team meeting with Legal Assistants and section leaders
- Leads the recruitment efforts of all Legal Assistant positions
- Interprets and responds to HR policy and practice questions
- Promotes the firm culture and participates in planning and organizing various events
- Conducts presentations to firm members around Human Resources initiatives
- Takes on and assists with other HR projects and activities as needed
Requirements:- Post-secondary education in Human Resources or equivalent Human Resources experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in related role or Human Resources Generalist experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment
- CHRP designation or working towards a CHRP
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations
- Knowledge of current market trends in human resources practices
- Strong technical skills specifically in an HRIS database, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Discretion, confidentiality and attention to detail are essential
- A team player who takes initiative and works well independently
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Demonstrates excellent client service and ability to anticipate client needs
