About the position
The Human Resources Advisor works as part of a collaborative HR team providing practical, hands‑on advice and support to managers and employees across the Museum. The Advisor serves a diverse internal client base, from researchers and scientific professionals to employees working in collections, exhibitions, public‑facing operations and corporate services. This requires the ability to understand different operational realities, build effective working relationships and provide responsive, client‑focused HR service.
The role has a strong focus on staffing and recruitment, with the Advisor supporting managers throughout the recruitment and selection process, from identifying staffing needs and launching processes to screening applications, coordinating and participating in assessments and interviews, and supporting selection and hiring activities. The Advisor also contributes to a variety of HR programs and initiatives, including employee recognition, accessibility, diversity and inclusion, policies and procedures, reporting, data analysis and process improvement.
This is a fast‑paced and varied role where several files and priorities are managed at the same time and needs can change quickly. The Advisor works closely with other members of the HR team, responding to day‑to‑day requests and helping managers navigate HR questions and situations. Strong organization, sound judgment, initiative and the ability to identify practical solutions are important to successfully balance immediate client needs with ongoing projects and priorities.
Service is an important part of the role. The Advisor is expected to be responsive, approachable and solutions‑oriented, while providing accurate and appropriate HR guidance.
