Job summary

Prysmian is seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental Supervisor to strengthen our safety culture in a manufacturing environment. You will lead a small HSE team and partner with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance to reduce risk and drive continuous improvement at our Johnstown, Ontario site.

You will implement HSE programs, conduct risk assessments, incidents analyses, and ensure regulatory compliance while supporting environmental programs and sustainability reporting.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of HSE experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, Environmental, Manufacturing, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations; familiarity with NFPA, NIOSH, ANSI, NEC, EPA, DOT is an asset.
  • Strong communication, problem‑solving, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Comfortable working with cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to travel up to 10-15%.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a small team of HSE Coordinators while providing day-to-day safety and environmental support to the site.
  • Partner with Operations and site leaders to implement HSE programs, training, risk reduction initiatives, and behavior-based safety practices.
  • Conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, job safety analyses, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Support equipment reviews, machine guarding assessments, and process changes in collaboration with Engineering and Maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Environmental Leadership: Manage environmental programs including air permitting, SWPPP, waste management, and sustainability reporting.

Our salary range for this role is $87,000 - $117,000, reflecting the anticipated base salary for a fully qualified candidate at the time of posting. Actual pay will be determined based on skills, experience, internal equity, and market conditions.

Environmental Leadership:

  • Work with external consultants and regulatory agencies to maintain compliance and support continuous improvement.
What We’re Looking For:
  • 3+ years of HSE experience in a manufacturing environment; experience leading or mentoring HSE team members is preferred.
  • Degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, Environmental, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations; familiarity with NFPA, NIOSH, ANSI, NEC, TCEQ, EPA, or DOT is an asset.
  • Strong communication, problem‑solving, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Comfortable working closely with cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to travel up to 10-15%.
