Qualifications

  • Provide practical coaching to field teams on safety expectations.

About the Role

We are looking for a Temporary Field HSE Advisor to support our field operations on a 6-month term, with the possibility of extension. Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, this role will work closely with field crews, supervisors, project teams, and clients to support safe and compliant project execution.

This position is best suited for someone with practical experience in field-based HSE or related site operations, particularly within environmental construction, demolition, oil and gas, reclamation, remediation, or similar industrial environments.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working in active field environments, building strong relationships with crews and client representatives, and providing practical HSE support.

What You Will Do

  • Act as a visible safety presence in field operations, working directly with crews, supervisors, project teams, and client representatives.
  • Support compliance with company policies, client requirements, site-specific plans, and applicable occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, FLHAs/JSAs, pre-job meetings, inspections, and focused safety conversations.
  • Conduct site inspections, identify hazards or non-compliance concerns, and clearly document observations within company HSE systems.
  • Assist with incident and near-miss reporting, information gathering, corrective actions, and follow-up activities.
  • Provide practical, respectful coaching to help field teams integrate safety expectations into day-to-day work.
  • Share field feedback with the Health & Safety Manager to help keep HSE tools, checklists, and processes practical and effective.

Who You Are

Education & Experience

  • Education in occupational health and safety, environmental sciences, construction management, or a related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and practical field experience will also be considered.
  • Experience supporting safety or field operations in construction, demolition, oil and gas, reclamation, remediation, environmental construction, or a similar industrial environment is strongly preferred.
  • Practical understanding of field-level hazard identification, inspections, safety documentation, and compliance requirements.
  • Able to work effectively in active field environments and engage directly with crews, supervisors, project teams, and clients.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong communicator who can build trust with field teams and maintain professionalism with client representatives.
  • Confident and observant, with the ability to speak up when safety or compliance concerns need to be addressed.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with a focus on accurate, timely documentation and follow-through.
  • Practical and solutions-focused, with the ability to balance safety expectations with the realities of field operations.
  • Able to work independently while keeping the Health & Safety Manager informed of key issues, trends, and support needs.
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams. Experience with SiteDocs or a similar digital HSE platform is an asset.

Other Requirements

  • Willing and able to work outdoors in variable weather and active field conditions.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively to project sites throughout Western Canada.
