Job summary

SB Canada is seeking a field-based HSE leader to partner with operations across projects, ensuring safe execution and strong safety performance. You will spend substantial time in the field, coaching teams and implementing critical controls, while supporting planning and incident prevention initiatives.

The role emphasizes leadership in safety, coaching, and communication across multiple sites, with regular travel and a focus on operational excellence in construction environments.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • CRSP designation (or actively working toward certification) is considered a strong asset
  • 6–10 years of progressive construction HSE experience
  • Experience supporting multiple construction projects and operational teams
  • Strong knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety legislation
  • Excellent communication, coaching, facilitation, and leadership skills
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and learning new technologies and digital systems
  • Valid driver’s licence with the ability to travel regularly to project sites

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Operations, Project Managers, Superintendents, and Supervisors to support safe project execution
  • Spend regular time in the field understanding how work is actually performed
  • Support project planning and execution from an operational risk perspective
  • Help identify opportunities to strengthen critical controls before work begins
  • Provide practical advice that balances production, quality, and safety
  • Build trusted relationships across projects and business units
  • Lead initiatives focused on preventing serious injuries and fatalities
  • Support identification and management of high-energy hazards
  • Evaluate critical controls and verify they are effective in the field
  • Participate in high-risk work planning and operational reviews
