Job summary

PCL Constructors Canada Inc. is seeking a Health, Safety & Environment Coordinator to join the Charlottetown project team for an 11-month hourly contract from October 2026 to September 2027.

You will collaborate with the project team, trade partners and leadership to foster a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with HSE plans and training. The role requires a degree or diploma in OH&S (in progress acceptable), practical HSE knowledge, and the ability to coach teams, manage stakeholders

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (in progress acceptable).
• Working toward safety designation.
• 3 years of experience in a related industry.
• Knowledge of OH&S and environmental legislation and HSE processes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to coach and mentor others and to resolve conflicts.
• Ability to develop, influence and maintain stakeholder relationships.
• Knowledge of construction processes and terminology.
• Strong MS Office skills and adaptability to new tech.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and assists with the project HSE plan and regulatory requirements.
• Identifies and conducts project-specific HSE training.
• Provides HSE information, trends and action plans to the project team.
• Develops hazard identification tools and implements them.
• Performs project HSE inspections and verifies corrective actions.
• Supports emergency response plan implementation and project security.
• Reviews trade documentation and monitors safety compliance of contractors.
• Ensures equipment and tool inspections are conducted and documented.
• Notifies stakeholders of incidents and supports investigations.
• Builds and maintains positive relationships with project teams and partners.
