GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT

Titan is searching for a dynamic, entrepreneurial individual to join our team as Health, Safety & Environment Coordinator. Reporting to the Branch Manager, you have a proven track record of developing and implementing organizational safety programs. Interests include reviewing and updating HSE policies and procedures, conducting safety risk assessments, worker and supervisor training, safe work practices, incident investigation, record keeping, reporting, and audits. Specific Accountabilities, Responsibilities, And Duties

  • Review, develop, and maintain corporate Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards, policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Expand, update, and coordinate the corporate Safety Program, including administering Safety Committee meetings, updating health and safety policies and procedures, and tracking training records and expiration dates.
  • Develop a training and competency program, including further job task analysis to coach field personnel and leaders.
  • Conduct hazard assessments and risk analysis on an ongoing basis.
  • Respond to emergency situations, conduct prompt and thorough investigations of all incidents/accidents and near misses, document findings, and prepare recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Assist with WCB and Worksafe BC claims, including administration of modified work programs, ensuring all claims and required documentation are completed accurately and submitted within suitable timeframes.
  • Develop and maintain a health and safety management system (job hazard assessments, procedures, exposure plans, mitigation plans, communications) as required by customers and regulatory bodies.
  • Maintain COR compliance. Coordinate and participate in annual COR audits, review results, and develop and implement COR corrective action plans focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Monitor organizational safety compliance through Workhub. Assign training requirements, safety data sheets, incident tracking, and company safety bulletins and alerts.
  • Coach, educate, and support operations employees in maintaining a safe work culture.
  • Provide training and support to the Health and Safety Representatives and/or the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
  • Provide expert interpretation and proactively follow industry and regulatory changes to ensure provincial health and safety compliance.
  • Seek to continuously enhance the Company’s safety culture through new practices and innovations to ensure the safety of all employees.
  • Conduct onsite field observations during operations to ensure compliance with safety standards and identify potential hazards.
  • Coordinate and oversee the inspection and maintenance of safety equipment and PPE.

Qualifications And Experience

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a field related to Occupational Health and Safety.
  • 5-10 years HSE experience in field environments with a proven track record of measurable results.
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) is an asset.
  • Project management experience from inception, planning to completion. Experience in establishing a training and competence program is preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of provincial occupational health and safety legislation (B.C. and Alberta) standards, workers' compensation legislation, Fire Code, and CSA and ANSI standards.
  • Knowledge of commercial vehicle compliance, load securement, driver qualification, and training (B.C. and Alberta).
  • Industry professional, able to effectively engage and influence a variety of audiences at all levels of business.
  • Sound decision-making, analytical and organizational skills with a consultative approach to managing relationships.
  • Advanced and demonstrated ability with computer applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and cloud-based applications such as Dropbox, Workhub, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all levels within the organization.
  • Passionate about business and dissatisfaction with the status quo – always thinking of ways to enhance the company’s safety culture.
  • Motivated to balance office and field time to ensure adequate support and training to field staff. Some travel will be required.
  • Experience in water transfer, water pumping, Modular Tank set up, and tear downs are an asset.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license required as there will be some requirement to travel to various work sites in Grande Prairie and surrounding areas.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and establish credibility, trust, and build relationships with people at all levels of the organization.
