SECURE in Canada seeks an experienced HSE Advisor to support Specialty Chemicals field operations in Leduc and Nisku. You will help implement the HSE Management System, strengthen proactive safety practices, and work with operations, contractors, and the HSE team to promote safe, compliant work environments.

The role is field‑focused, based in Leduc, with on‑site engagement across operations. The candidate has 3+ years in HSE, an OHS certificate or CRSP/NCSO, and strong knowledge of MS Office

Your Opportunity at SECURE

As an HSE Advisor, you will provide hands-on health and safety support to SECURE’s Specialty Chemicals field operations in Leduc, Nisku, and the surrounding area. You will help implement SECURE’s HSE Management System, strengthen proactive safety practices, and work closely with operations, contractors, and HSE team members to promote safe, compliant, and consistent work environments. This role is ideal for an experienced HSE professional who enjoys being visible in the field and making a practical and meaningful impact.

This role is based out of Leduc, Alberta

The Team

You will join a collaborative Specialty Chemicals team that values strong partnerships, open communication, and a proactive approach to health and safety. Working closely with operations and HSE professionals, you will help build strong relationships and support a culture where everyone takes ownership of safety.

Work Environment

This is a field-focused role based in Leduc, Nisku, and the surrounding area, with regular on-site engagement across Specialty Chemicals operations. You will work directly with employees, leaders, contractors, and third-party service providers to support hazard identification, safe work practices, training, inspections, incident prevention, and the consistent application of SECURE’s HSEMS.

A Day in The Life

• Effectively implement SECURE’S HSE Management System (HSEMS) in alignment with SECURE values and culture, and in compliance with all legislative requirements.
• Provide HSE support for operations and interface on HSE matters with all levels of operations and HSE personnel.
• Support a proactive approach to safety management and loss prevention and provide value to the organization.
• Maintain a high level of on-site field support (Leduc/Nisku and area).
• Strong in supporting core HSE systems including Site Hazard Assessment, Field Level Hazard Assessment, Safe Work Permits, site orientations, facilitating training, tracking of safety tickets, emergency response plan(s), facility inspections, hazard hunts, coaching safe work/behavior practices, safety meetings/toolbox talks, hazard identification and control, incident reporting and investigation.
• Ensuring communication and consistency is maintained through active engagement in safety meetings, Ops/HSE calls, and general safety communications.
• Collaborating with SECURE personnel & third-party contractors to align SECURE’s safety program with their requirements, ensuring compliance and meeting mutual expectations.
• Assisting in updating and maintaining components of the HSEMS as requested.
• Continually progress personal development, specifically maintaining up-to-date safety tickets and related training.
• Providing additional support as required.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

• A minimum of 3 years' experience in industry-related HSE operations: chemical blending, oilfield (drilling, completions, production), pipelines, construction/trades, welding/fabricating, rail/trans-loading, pulp & paper laboratory processes or any other heavy industry or chemical processing-related industry.
• Hands-on experience supporting HSE functions and implementing HSE initiatives at large commercial/industrial/facility construction projects involving multiple third-party contractors, sub-contractors and/or trades.
• OHS Certificate, CRSP or NCSO designation (or actively working towards one of these designations).
• Working knowledge of safety management systems and safe work practices
• Practical knowledge and experience in supporting proactive safety and helping build a strong proactive safety culture
• A strong understanding of the HSE regulatory process and principles
• Ability to communicate, multi-task, prioritize and work well with multiple stakeholders on-site and within SECURE Specialty Chemicals division
• Strong ability to communicate, build working relationships within the organization as well as with external stakeholders, vendors, and contractors
• High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), web-based Safety Management Systems (ITrak)/Power BI
• Direct operational experience in one (or more) of the following industries.
  • Chemical Blending or Chemical Processing-related industry.
  • Oilfield; Drilling, Completions, Production
  • Pipelines
  • Construction, Trades
  • Welding/Fabrication
  • Rail/Trans-loading
  • Pulp and Paper
  • Large Laboratory Processes
  • Other heavy industries not already mentioned.
